  • What activities should I avoid after getting a new tattoo?
We can think of a lot of activities to avoid after getting a new tattoo or anytime for that matter, such as wearing fanny packs. But here are the most relevant suggestions for new ink, AVOID the following: Swimming, soaking, and submerging for 2 weeks. Rubbing (the new ink), scratching, or itching. Removing your bandage pre-maturely. Not keeping the area clean.
  • How soon can I book an appointment?
A free consultation is REQUIRED prior to booking your appointment. Moscow Tattoo Company requires a non-refundable security deposit in order to secure your tattoo appointment.
  • Are tattoos safe?
Yes, as long as you are doing the proper research on the shop where you are being tattooed. We adhere to the strictest of sanitary standards at Moscow Tattoo Company. All of our artists are up to date on the most current training standards for blood borne pathogens and prevention of disease transmission. We bring to you the best aseptic treatment in every tattoo we do. All of our artists have completed proper apprenticeships and learned what to and what not to do during your tattoo. We use single use needles and pigments in every tattoo. Some of our artists use steel tubes and rubber grips. These steel tubes and grips are cleaned using an ultrasonic cleaning tank using Tergazyme to break up and destroy any ink and bacteria left in the tubes and grips. We then do a regimented hand cleaning/scrubbing of the tubes and grips. Lastly we package our equipment and run them through a spore tested Ritter M11 Ultraclave sterilizer. This autoclave is the exact same autoclave sterilizer used in hospitals and dentist/doctor offices.
  • What should I do/do not before and at the time of my tattoo appointment.
*DO BRING PROPER ID! We can't tattoo you without it. State ID, Drivers License, Passport, and Military ID. Student ID’s are not suitable Identification. *DO COME CLEAN! Please if you have a dirty job clean up before you come in. We will be in very close proximity to you and do appreciate cleanliness. *DO BE ON TIME! If you show up 15 min or later to your appointment without prior notification you will lose your deposit and appointment time. We work on the same schedules as your doctor! *DO GET A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP! A rested body will make your tattoo procedure much smoother. *DO EAT WITHIN AT LEAST 3 HOURS OF YOUR TATTOO! Our bodies demand sugar in our system to combat the release of endorphins that happens during a tattoo. If you aren't properly nourished your risk of becoming faint and passing out increases. *DO HYDRATE! Drinking a responsible amount of water helps hydrate your skin and makes it easier for us to apply the tattoo. *DO NOT GET DRUNK THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR TATTOO! If you come in after a night of heavy drinking you will bleed a lot! This makes it impossible for us to put the tattoo on you properly and will result in having to stop tattooing you. This will result in you losing your deposit and having to pay another for further work on your tattoo. *DO NOT COME IN DRUNK OR ON DRUGS! We aren't dumb. You aren't gonna fool us so don't even try. *DO NOT COME IN TALKING BAD ABOUT OTHER SHOPS OR ARTISTS! We are pretty good friends with all of the other shops and artists in the area. We are a tight knit tattoo community here and routinely get together.
  • How much should I Tip my artist?
We do not require that you tip. We do however greatly appreciate it. So if you feel so inclined to tip we recommend tipping your artist the same as you would anyone working hard in the service industry.
  • How long does it take to get a tattoo?
The answer to this question depends on the size, placement, and content of the tattoo. We routinely do tattoos that can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours. This question is best suited for your artist to answer at the time of consultation.
  • Do you offer piercing services?
Yes we do! Our piercer Niko works by appointment only. You can set up with him through his website www.piercingsbyniko.com
  • Does it hurt?
There is some mild pain associated with getting tattooed. There is no “poke” feeling. The most common pain associated with tattooing is a mild burning feeling. And no, color ink does not hurt any worse than black ink. There is a small difference in feeling between linework and shading/packing. Linework is a slightly sharper pain and shading/packing is quite duller. Pain levels vary depending on your threshold and placement of the tattoo.
  • Do you take Walk Ins for tattoos?
YES and YES! If you walk in and one of our 3 artists is open and believes the tattoo can be done in the time they have then certainly we will be more than happy to take care of you!
  • How do I book a consultation?
There are a few ways to get in touch to request a free consultation. The easiest is to email us at MoscowTattooCompany@gmail.com by visiting the "Contact Us" section of this site. You can also stop by during business hours.
  • How much does it cost?
This again depends on the size, placement, and content of the tattoo. Moscow Tattoo Company has a minimum charge of $60 for tattoos. Cost can vary between artists depending on experience. If you have gotten a quote from one of our artists please don't go and ask another artist in the shop for their quote as we find this very rude and do not undercut one another. A good rule of thumb to remember is that “Cheap tattoos aren't good and good tattoos aren't cheap.” This question is best answered by your artist at the time of consultation.
