Meet the Artist - Cameron Price

August 14, 2018

We think Moscow Tattoo Company has some of the best artists this region has to offer. Not just because they are phenomenally talented; they are all great people who are incredibly passionate about their work. They work hard at studying and mastering their craft so they can provide stellar outcomes for their clients. We'll be featuring each artist so that you have an opportunity to learn more about the backgrounds of the artists at Moscow Tattoo Company. We've introduced you to our guest artist, Todd Holley (see post here). We'd now like to provide a more formal introduction to Cameron Price.

He's a busy guy who juggles family-life, serving his clients at Moscow Tattoo Company, traveling to Bozeman where he is invited as a guest artist, completing commissioned/custom art pieces, and studying up on ways to enhance his art. Despite all that keeps Cameron busy, we were fortunate enough to be able to pick his brain a bit! Here it goes, a glimpse into the life of Cameron Price!

WHAT SPARKED YOUR INTEREST IN TATTOOS?

I was always fascinated by tattoos as a kid. I was really into skateboarding, punk rock, and heavy metal from an early age. So, tattoos kind of went hand-in-hand with those things. A lot of my friends and their older brothers, musicians, and people I looked up to had tattoos. So, I always kinda wanted to get tattooed.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR ARTISTIC INSPIRATION.

A lot of my early interest in art came from old 80's and 90's skateboard graphics, like the old Powell and Creature Skateboard stuff. A lot of pro skaters were artists who also designed board graphics and did graffiti. I was really into that stuff and album art.

WHEN DID YOU START DIVING INTO ART YOURSELF? ...CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR TRAINING?

I always liked to draw and did a lot of art as a kid. As I got older, I ended up going to WSU and got into their art program. It was during my undergraduate studies that I started focusing my art on tattooing. I found an apprenticeship and learned to tattoo from there. I served 3 years as an apprentice here in Moscow. I am very drawn to the craftsmanship of tattooing. I’ve build my own tattoo machines and mix my own ink. I continue to paint and draw quite a bit. I am constantly trying to become a better artist.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE STYLE OR MEDIUM?

I like to learn different mediums to work in and I enjoy studying art of all types. I would say that I tend to be drawn more towards lowbrow and custom culture art. But I also enjoy a variety of Baroque and classical art.

Stop by the shop to visit with Cameron in person. To see more of his artwork, check out his facebook page: Tattooing by Cameron Price .  We've shared a few of our favorites (both tattoos and artwork) in the slideshow below.

We want to help our community learn more about this local artist and Washington State University Alumni; we believe those who haven't seen his art are missing out! We'd love for you to share your pictures on google, along with a review, if you've been tattooed by Cameron.
